Goals:
Honor Ancestral Agricultural Knowledge
Preserve and teach the crops, livestock, and land-based practices carried by African, Indigenous, and global communities whose traditions shaped agriculture in the Americas.
Create Spaces for Healing and Cultural Preservation
Develop areas for gathering, storytelling, cultural education, and value-added creation. Build a farm environment where people can process history, celebrate legacy, and engage in land-based healing.
Build a Global Agricultural Map
Create a landscape that reflects the agricultural knowledge of Africa, Indigenous nations, Latin America, Asia, and other regions—showing how these traditions arrived, evolved, and continue to influence the land today.
Practice Reciprocal Relationship with Indigenous Communities
Acknowledge that the land is Indigenous land. Incorporate Indigenous crops, farming practices, and knowledge into the farm’s landscape. Build relationships with Indigenous communities through reciprocity, collaboration, and shared stewardship.
Center BIPOC Leadership and Learning
Prioritize BIPOC farmers, educators, and learners in staffing, programming, and decision-making. Create accessible pathways for future stewards through scholarships, housing, hands-on training, and community support.
Strengthen Local Community Connections
Serve as a hub for Rich Square and surrounding rural communities—uplifting local farmers, supporting youth, and creating a space where people can connect, learn, and build a future rooted in land and legacy.
